Out and About...

Hello All,

Ok, well tomorrow will be one month since I arrived, it has flown in, I hope the rest of the year doesnt go so quick. The last 3 weeks at work have been hectic. I have been given a website to create as well as being trained on the reservations and phone calls. Its fun and all but when you get someone who is a bit slow and cant read the friggin internet for the information and who is on the phone to you for half an hour, sometimes, its hard to get your work started.

Anywhoo... Im building the website at the minute got a good bit done but have a few bits and pieces to clean up for the boss so I will be sure to post the link up on this once it has launched. And hey who knows, maybe ill even get a booking over it.

So... San Francisco....

I went out on one of my days off for some sightseeing... and would you adam and eve it, my flipping camera run out of batteries. So now I am waiting for my friends to upload their photos so I can steal them. Basically we went around the city, from Lombard St, (the really really steep and narrow street... most crooked street in the world,) then off to the Golden Gate Bridge. It was class. I know we got some amazing photographs but as I say I havent got them yet but I will be sure to upload them as soon as possible.

Ok so on the way back from our sightseeing trip I stopped off at a shop called "you say tomato" its a british shop which had lots of goodies. Including...... wispa bars... i must have bought about 10 lol. But I also bought proper bacon, sausages and few other things which I will now explain why....

Since I have been here I have been trying new foods... Taco's... Sushi... McDonalds... lol... so a few weeks ago Rica (girl I work with from Japan) made a Japanese dinner for us all, last week colly (other irish fella im working with) made us bangers and mash... not traditional irish food but I tell you... it was good... so I thought I would bring my culture to San Fran... and I made an ULSTER FRY!! lol

Ok it wasnt entirely an ulster fry, it lacked a few items like soda bread, potato bread etc... but it did have galtee bacon, sausages, henze baked beans, eggs, and toasted weaten bread... and all washed down with a cup of tetly tea.... now I dont rate my cooking skills too high, but these guys cleaned the food quicker than I did! So I consider it a success.

Monday night (last night) we worked a long day, and then the girls came on the bus, and we went to the ball game... It was a massive park, the wind made us all cold but still the San Francisco Giants won with a little help from us, quotes include:

- Lets here it for the Harp Larger Belfast Giants
- Bring on Kevin Cosner
- HIT THE BALL!!!
- Go on Ricky (pitcher looked like a guy we know)
- Go on YA GOOD TING
- WHAT YOU TALKIN ABOUT HE IS OUT??? *rica is he out?... yes..* - GOOD CALL REF
- Hey batter batter batter batter.... swing batter batter batter batter.... misss
- Boooo urns.... Booooo urns (burns from simpsons- they arent booing you sir, they are sayin boo urns boo urns)

amongst others...

It was good fun I mean boring, but its the people you go with that makes the craic.

So now its tuesday night... gonna watch Top Gear because I hear that AC/DC singer is on this episode so im expecting good things. So nighty night and ill upload the photos as soon as I get them.... hope all is going well back home... be sure and keep me up to date with the bizz

Im here for a good time... AND a long time...

Hey guys,

Well my first week is over in San Francisco, and its started to sink in that I am here for a year, not a holiday. I have been getting myself used to the city and trying to find my way around. All I can say is at this point, San Francisco is a beautiful city, in most parts, some of it is stinkin of piss and roaming with homeless people. Its weird, I mean I have seen bums before, but they are everywhere over here.

Well instead of getting ahead of myself and start telling stories, I will start from the beginning...

Well the first few days I had it easy, I was able to meet everyone and get myself settled. I found a few shops over here, but nothing like back home, there is no Tesco's/Sainsbury's subsitute, only wallgreens. Its like a chemist, that sells bread and milk and eggs etc. It's ok for now. I bought myself an omlette maker (photos to follow) and a george forman for like 35bucks (thats like 20quid in our terms) which is pretty decent. I also have been gettin up early and going for free breakfast, and takin a few bits and pieces from there to keep me throughout the day, but as I have said I have met new people and I was out with them a lot too, which means fast food!

There is so much places here that serve so much unhealthy food, McDonalds, BurgerKing, KFC, Pronto Pizzera, etc etc. Its been hard for the first week because I am still trying to adjust, but I am determined to join the gym and keep the weight off, there is a 24hr gym on Van Ness (2 blocks over) which I will join as soon as I can. Speakin of food, I did manage to find a place near work called Safeway which is like a Tesco's Express, it has good food, so today I got myself chicken, meat, cheese, fruit etc for quiet a good price, (I even picked myself up one of the gift cards which means money off!.. check me out.. im domesticated lol) well that is near work, which brings us nicely onto the subject of why I am here in the first place.

Work - Well for those of you who don't know I work for Extranomical Tours, (feel free to visit the website but dont click on it unless you are going to book a tour because it costs the company money everytime someone clicks the link- something I learnt). So my role, basically I have been thrown in at the deep end, I have arrived right in the middle of peak season and everything is crazy in work. I worked from 8-5 all this week and I have Sunday and Monday off, I have learnt the inner workings of the business but if I tell you I would have to kill you. All I can say is that it will take me a bit of time to dot the i's and cross the t's but I will get there. A lot of things like Google Analyitics and Keywords which basically allow the website to be shown on the likes of Google etc, (and for thoes of you still awake...) oh and there was a break in the day I started, apparently the 4th time that month. The guy who works across from us got his $7200 camera stolen, (not a happy bunny).

So full time work hurts at the minute, I am going to combine it with working out and having fun, see what my concokshun tastes like. Oh and yes, I am still able to drink, but in the apartments and once bought by the bigger boys lol. Dont worry, not on a work night.

So that brings us to the end of my first week here. I think what I am going to do from now and again is to post personal messages to people because now that I am working in the mornings I will not be on msn to talk much, so if your name is not posted here, (take it I dont like you) lol na... just drop me an email or something and I will be sure to keep in touch...

Mum and Dad - Don't worry, I am showering and shaving daily, I bought some good food which will do me for the next week, work is fine and I am doing the best I can be. I have done all the paperwork needed, i.e bank account etc so don't worry, I havent been able to get an Iphone because they are not doing them over here on pay as you go, so I am thinkin of an Ipod Touch, it has wi fi and a bigger amount of room for music, but I will see, my money is still quiet good, I am not spending it on rubbish. All in all, everything is great. I will try and get in touch whenever I can, love you.

Jack and Julie-Anna - Keep talkin to me on msn, even when I am not there, its the main point of contact. Jack sell any of my stuff and I'll kick your hole. Be sure to bring the laptop over to Granda and Granny and let them read this, keep them up to date too and keep the work up, Hi Jane. Julie-Anna you can have my TV but the day I'm home you will be giving it back. Miss you guys.

Granny and Granda - I miss you and all hope you are keeping well, I am ok over here and I am keeping busy, I will be sure to talk to you as soon as I can, remember Derek has my email address so anytime you want to contact me, just ask him to send me an email and I will reply as son as I get it. Love you

Kenny - Keep in contact man, missin you and the frames, no craic over here without snooker and you mate. Keep your head down in work and remember about night class! speak soon.

Eddie - Good luck in Uni and make sure u keep in contact with me, let all the guys know I z Hi and FEELYAAA lol.

Colly, Tayto, Kelly, Andrea, Steven, Paul and anyone else from Uni reading this - Keep in contact and make sure to keep me up to date with all of the business, Colly's a tosser.

Love you all and will update this again soon,

Love - Jamie

Oh say can you see...

Hello all,

Yesterday was the 4th of July and an excuse to go and drink in the park, the guys from the apartments all met up at about 2 oclock and then we headed towards Fishermans Warf, it was packed out already, but we sat down, played a few games of cards, had a lot of craic (Belfast craic - not San Francisco) and took a lot of pictures, most of which are uploaded here. All in all it was a great day, and the fireworks at the end were amazin. (still nothing compared to disney world, but still up there, was really good).

After which we waited while everyone around us left before startin out on the long road home. So to end it was a great day, got a bit nippy at the end but still nothing to ruin a good day.
Check out the photos and I will keep this updated.

Love - Jamie
